1812–13 earthquakes: the 8 March shock was the last felt

Provincial State Papers, tomo XIX · BANC MSS C-A 12, document 417

1812–13 earthquakes: the 8 March shock was the last felt; cracks oozing chapapote (tar) in the Sierra de San Bernardo, at Lomas, and in the Tulares; a coastal volcano gained new vents + another reported behind the Sierra de los Pinos — Argüello infers subterranean tar 'boiling with sulfur' at the quake's center; the presidio chapel just finished (palisade, tile-roofed, 18 × 6 varas); the alférez's & his own houses still need roofing & plastering.
