Death sentences — the Bárbara Gandiaga case. Confirms the auditor de guerra's sentence condemning three Indians — Bárbara Gandiaga (instigator, in revenge for being dismissed from the padre's house), Lázaro Rosales & Alejandro de la Cruz — to death for the premeditated murder of their minister Padre Fr. Eudaldo Surroca[?] (smothered asleep) at Mission Santo Tomás (Baja Cal.); hanging (or shooting if no executioner), then head & right hand spiked in the mission's most public place. A new deposition was ordered from Gandiaga (2nd day in the chapel) re a second murder — Padre Fr. Miguel López[?] + a gentile Indian — in which she is also implicated.
