On tithes (diezmos). Per the Peninsula Reglamento, settlers must pay tithes on the crops & livestock (frutos y esquilmos) they produce, plus the rescate of suertes de tierra. As the diezmos are assigned to the mitra (bishopric) of Sonora, all collected now & henceforth is to be reduced to remate (auction), composing with the stock-raisers so they pay the value of the tithed head in pesos or seed. Orig. pp.31–32.
