Record of the death of Capt. Fernando de Rivera y Moncada in the Yuma (Colorado River) Revolt. Verbatim: 'El Capitán Dn Fernando de Rivera y Moncada murió el día 18 de Julio á manos de los Yumas en el cual se verificó su alzamiento.' A note from a cuenta-certificate signed by Gob. Felipe de Neve at San Gabriel 3 Jan 1782 states Rivera died at the hands of the Yumas on the río Colorado, per the report of Alférez Cayetano Limón of the Presidio de Buenavista, who on 21 Aug passed that ground & gathered scattered corpses; de Croix's datum at the foot of the document corrects Neve's date of the death. ⚠️ Savage heads it '1782' but the Yuma Revolt & Rivera's death are firmly 17–18 July 1781; transcribed verbatim. Ties to Doc 97 (Limón) & the destruction of the Colorado missions. Orig. pp.185–186.
