Interrogation of imprisoned SD-revolt leaders

Provincial State Papers, Benicia (Military), tomo I–XIX · BANC MSS C-A 15, document 28

Interrogation of imprisoned SD-revolt leaders. Declarations (31 May–18 Jun) from various imprisoned Indians 'acusados como principales en el asalto' of the night of 5 Nov 1775 — burning the buildings, killing P. Jayme & other whites, wounding the cabo & 3 escort soldiers. ⭐ Motive (verbatim sense): the rebels 'no tenían queja contra los soldados, ni contra los Padres sino la de que bautizaban, y aquellos querían acabar con Padres y soldados para vivir como antes.' A striking anti-baptism / anti-mission testimony. Orig. pp.327–343.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
