Causa vs. José Antonio Noriega + Joaquín & Raimundo Carrillo. Roots in a published accusation: in *El Correo de la Federación Mexicana* No. 160 (9 Nov 1828), Capt. Miguel González printed a communiqué from SB alleging that 5 Spanish captains arrived hidden aboard a frigate behind the castillo and that cadets in Spanish insignia (Noriega, Raimundo & Joaquín Carrillo) signaled/boarded it past the guard — artillery officers (Rodrigo del Pliego, Mariano Vaquero) readied cannon; the 'Spanish frigate' proved 'un puro chasco' (a hoax) but González warned it might be a real 'intentona.' Pacheco as fiscal finds it a youthful prank ('á guisa de juguete'), González's frigate/campaign claims mere supposition, and recommends leniency (no sentence). A vivid window into the 1828–29 anti-Spanish/Californio political tension (Mexican-born officer vs. native cadets). Orig. pp.274–307.
