*Inventarios de Misiones* — the missionaries refuse to give the governor mission inventories: Serra (1775) excused himself saying he sent them direct, and later told Neve in person he had a *precepto de obediencia* from his Guardián 'de no dar informe ni noticia alguna de las Misiones al Gobernador'; Neve reads in this the friars' 'espíritu… de mantener las Misiones y sus naturales con total inhibición del conocimiento' of government — see Entry 14

How to cite this document
Neve to Com. Gral, 1779-06-04, Provincial Records, I, 270–271, Archives of California, C-A 22, Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley.Cite the document by series, tomo and original tomo page, as the literature does; the C-A number locates it in the repository. To cite this catalogue entry itself, use https://archivesofcalifornia.com/record/ca22/ca22-d144.htmlThe originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
