Departmental State Papers, tomo III · BANC MSS C-A 28, document 251

Orders him to investigate & arrest the authors of the San Luis Rey unrest; reassure the Indians of the Diputación's aim to defend their interests; and make the Colonos understand the Diputación will attend their claims 'pero sin perjuicio de los indios' — Figueroa subordinates the colony's claims to Indian property rights.
