Verbatim: 'Que los neofitos unidos á los Capitanes y alcaldes de S. Diego quieren pronunciarse y proclamar Comte Genl del territorio á Jº Mª Echeandia por ser sujeto que ha tenido empeño en hacerles libres, y reclamar el repartimiento de las tierras.' [= that the neophytes, joined to the captains and Indian alcaldes of San Diego, mean to pronounce and proclaim Echeandía comandante general because he pushed to make them free, and to demand the distribution of the lands]. Note the split cite.
