State Papers, Missions and Colonization, tomo II · BANC MSS C-A 53, document 81

Previously catalogued only within a grouped entry; itemised by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit. ⚠ Note: the concealing band does name this document in passing, so it was not wholly invisible; what was missing is a record of its own. It lay inside the span of a grouped entry covering n148-n162, which passed every coverage check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: 'o 1834 Julio 24 Monterey / José A. Carrillo, Frano de Haro José A. Estudillo' [= Commission's dictamen on the Jefe Político's landing-duty proposition, with further revenue prevenciones] Reports that in the session of the 15th the Jefe Político's proposition was passed to the commission; the commission finds it just and proper to the Territory and reports in four articles, adding other prevenciones it thinks useful to the funds. Art. 2 leaves the branding-iron register provisionally with the Ayuntamientos, the alcaldes to charge two reales per registration to the municipal fund. Art. 3 charges every individual placed in the carcel by competent authority 12 reales in silver on release. Art. 4 fixes the liquor duty at 3 pesos per barrel of aguardiente, 12 reales per barrel of wine and 2 pesos per barrel of angélica.
