State Papers, Missions and Colonization, tomo II · BANC MSS C-A 53, document 83

Previously catalogued only within a grouped entry; itemised by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit. ⚠ Note: the concealing band does name this document in passing, so it was not wholly invisible; what was missing is a record of its own. It lay inside the span of a grouped entry covering n148-n162, which passed every coverage check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: 'o 1834 Julio 26 Monte. / José Antº Carrillo Frano de Haro José A. Estudillo' [= Commission's further propositions on branding-iron registration, fines and the liquor duty] The commission, charged with proposing what seems most fitting to present and future circumstances of the Territory, submits propositions while redrafting the articles it withdrew in the session of the 24th. Art. 1: the constitutional Ayuntamientos may provisionally grant the use of branding irons presented for registration, charging 12 reales each to municipal funds. Art. 2: the Jefe Político to publicise that any individual lacking the corresponding registration of a branding iron in use must present himself to the Ayuntamiento of his jurisdiction. Art. 3 (on n157): fines and pecuniary penalties imposed for minor offences by the constitutional alcaldes and by the Jefe Político to go to municipal funds. Art. 4 (struck through on the leaf with a large X): repeals the existing arbitrio duty on domestic liquors as excessive and sets 3 pesos per barrel of aguardiente, 2 pesos per barrel of angélica and 12 reales per barrel of wine.
