Rengel → Fages — slavery policy (2 docs). — ⭐ Historically notable: the King resolved to facilitate the entry of black slaves into the American dominions to develop agriculture, lowering import duty to ~9 pesos/head 'sin diferencia de edad, sexo ni clase'; + the R.O. of 4 Nov 1781 abolishing the branding of slaves (face/back) at the ports of the Indies. (Promulgated in CA though slavery was not practiced there.) → social/economic history.
