José Argüello — the death of Lt. Hermenegildo Sal. — After Sal (Comandante & Habilitado of Monterey) died [Dec 1800], the commissioners inventoried the mortuary house; under the surgeon Juan de Dios Morelos, most of Sal's clothing and all his personal clothing was burned (TB quarantine), keeping only the new/unworn, 'por quitar toda escrupulosidad.' → the Sal papers (Sal's death — confirms the tuberculosis/quarantine).
