State Papers, Sacramento, tomo X–XIX · BANC MSS C-A 56, document 81

✓ VERIFIED vs scan n61 (2026-07-06): with Monterey restored (per his oficio of ~26 Jan), Sta Bárbara restored + 'la presentación de Joaquín Solís, con los 7 individuos que le acompañaban' (⚠ the MS names him 'Joaquín Solís' — vs 'José María Solís' alias Puerco in the Doc 42 convict register; the two-name problem is real, leave bracketed); a *sumaria* found 'aparece que éste y otros se pronunciaron por aquel Gobierno.' ⚠️ CALIBRATION: the row's gloss '[Español] / pro-Spanish character' is an INTERPRETATION, not the manuscript — the MS says only 'aquel Gobierno' (antecedent unspecified on the leaf), and the same passage frames the *facción*'s aims as 'en favor de las Reformas' (a federalist/yorkino banner, which cuts *against* a royalist reading). Echeandía elsewhere (Docs 79–80) floated both Spain and the Norteamericanos. Do not assert the revolt was pro-Spanish on this doc alone. Closes: territory tranquil but 'sin armas, sin municiones y sin recursos' for the troops; the missionaries' influence a worry
