Superior Government State Papers, Benicia, tomo XIX–XXI · BANC MSS C-A 58, document 46

Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: the document lay inside the declared span of a grouped entry covering n53-n71, which had passed every completeness check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: '+ 1829. [= 1829, Rosario. Riesgo to the comisario of Alta California. Three decrees: dispensing A. Salazar seven months of practice to be admitted as advocate (p.275); pardoning Lieut. Juan Brisgas y Garmendia (p.276); dispensing university courses in canon law to some students (p.277).] The opening block of the 1829 Rosario remittance, three short decrees (a legal-practice dispensation, an officer's indulto, an academic dispensation). Catalogued here mainly to fix where the 1829 run begins. Two transcription cautions: the surname I read as 'Brisgas' is more probably Bringas, and 'cursos de cañones' is almost certainly canones, i.e. canon law, not artillery; both are flagged as uncertain readings rather than asserted.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
