On irregularities of his predecessor [J.H.] Nash

Miscellaneous / Unbound Documents, tomo Unbound · BANC MSS C-A 63, document 178

On irregularities of his predecessor [J.H.] Nash: reports Nash surrendered the rest of the records but has not accounted for any funds belonging to the town & dist. of Sonoma; his records of grants of lots show his acts were all wrong; he termed some almost fraudulent in relation to sales of lots; he made out deeds for lots since he has been out of office; many other irregularities noticed; no way of correcting them, in the interest of innocent parties, except by the Gov. appointing a special commission of persons of ability & strict integrity; corrections must be made before any more lots are sold or titles issued; for Nash, among other things, undertook to alter the original map or plan & has created much confusion; people anxious to continue improving

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
