Mr. Reed has entered upon his duties as Sheriff; Nash the former alcalde refuses to deliver the town records — gave up a few but the important ones (without which the Court cannot act) he has concealed; neither Mr. Boggs nor Capt. Brackett the Commandt can do any more in the premises; Gov. will have to adopt measures & make such an example of Nash that others will hereafter be deterred; 'Nash places the Govr & all others in authority at defiance'

Alcalde [L.W.] Boggs to Gov. Mason (Mont.), Sonoma, 1847-06-29, Miscellaneous / Unbound Documents, Unbound, —, Archives of California, C-A 63, Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley.Cite the document by series, tomo and original tomo page, as the literature does; the C-A number locates it in the repository. To cite this catalogue entry itself, use https://archivesofcalifornia.com/record/ca63/ca63-d214.htmlThe originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
