About John H. Nash (late Alcalde at Sonoma) & John Ricord (late Attorney Genl at Sandwich Islds): says Nash is on board his ship, has requested Commodore to intercede with Gov. on his behalf, is sensible of his error & if forgiven will behave peaceably — will be sent to Mont. on a U.S. Ship, will have a good effect. Says John Ricord is a notorious scoundrel who ran away several years ago from U.S. with a large sum of money belonging to another; been cause of much vexation & trouble to Americans in Sandwich Islands; 'a villain that should not be trusted'; intends to come & settle in Cal., will try to insinuate himself in the Gov's favor; 'for Heaven's sake, for your own sake, for the sake of the peace & quietness of the country, give him no employment or countenance whatever'
