Savage's head: '1849. Julio 23. - S. José. (Copia N.o 3.) Ant. Mª Pico — al P.dre Real.' Abstract: 'Prohibiendole terminantem.te cualquier contrato de venta, relativo a los bienes de las Misiones de San José y Sta. Clara &. en consecuencia, de parecerle no haber comprendido la nota oficial q. en 21 del corriente le dirijio sobre el asunto.' [= Pico flatly forbids the padre any contract of sale touching the property of Missions San José and Santa Clara, since the padre appears not to have grasped his official note of the 21st of the month.] Marked '+' in Savage's margin; it is enclosure No. 3 of Pico's 31 July 1849 packet to the Governor whose tail runs at the top of this leaf.
