'Pide se le devuelvan las 223 pieles de nutria qe. pretendio vender al Cap. de una Fragata Ama. qe. llego en los ultimos dias de Feb.o y fueron confiscadas pr. el Comandte. de aquel Presidio; y dice se conforma con qe. le cobren dobles alcabalas' [= asks the return of the 223 otter skins he tried to sell to the captain of an American frigate that arrived in the last days of February and which were confiscated by the presidio commandant, and says he is content to be charged double alcabala]. Savage's footnote: '(*) 1.er Cabo de la 1a. Compa. de Voluntarios.' Note the arrival date given here (late February) differs from the 17 March entry of the Lelia Bird reported by Rodriguez - either a second vessel or a discrepancy in the record.
