O'Cain in full detail. The Anglo-American frigate (Capt. José O'Cain) released cabo Osuna at San Quintín (8th); headed south, perhaps to Isla de Santo Tomás, where another ship hunts otters with Nootka-type kayaks crewed by NW-coast Indians — 2 'de razón' Americans/English among them spoke with O'Cain. The frigate: 36 crew, 16 guns (14×6-pdr, 2×24-pdr), chain/bar/grape shot; crew always lands armed (4 pedreros in the launch); fast, wary of the San Blas ships. Rodríguez can't detain it (out of jurisdiction).
