- Previously read author: ''; recipient: ''; date_text: '1793'; savage_page: '—'. Leaf n159 (IA 168036075_79_16_2), printed stamp 159 with pencil 159. Heading: '+ 1792 - Set.e 22 - (No dice el lugar). / Arrillaga al Com.te Gral. / (4 Docs) - pp. 374 - 6.' DATE: the catalogue records only '1793' (date_confidence: year); the leaf gives an exact date and a different year - 22 September 1792 (verified at 2x: the final digit of the year is the same glyph as the '22' of the day, and the internal event, the Concepcion's arrival at Monterey on 9 July under Eliza, is the 1792 voyage). AUTHOR blank though the leaf names 'Arrillaga'; RECIPIENT blank though the leaf names 'al Com.te Gral.' - neither appears anywhere in the record. PLACE correctly blank: the leaf states 'No dice el lugar'. ORIG_PAGE 'p.xxii.~374' is flagged as an interpolation and stops short; the leaf prints the range exactly: 'pp. 374 - 6'. SAVAGE_PAGE recorded as an em-dash although the leaf bears stamp 159 (printed and pencil). SUMMARY: the first of the four enclosed documents is rendered correctly - 'Da parte q.e el 9 Julio arribo a Mont. la Fragata "Concepcion", con situados de los Presidios y algunos artesanos, procedente de Nutca y al mando del Ten.te de Navio, Fran.co de Eliza' (though the situados are dropped) - but 'ships well-provisioned' misreads the second item, which is an ORDER that they be supplied: 'Sobre haber dado orden de q.e buques de la espedicion (no dice cuales) sean abundantem.te socorridos, como lo pide Com.te de Limites en Nutca'; items 3 and 4 ('Haber abierto los pliegos dirigidos a Romeu' and the 12 May order making companies liable for habilitados' shortfalls) are not represented at all. OMISSIONS: the leaf's only other text is the tail of the preceding entry ('Bernardo R.l a 8 anos de trabajo a racion y sin sueldo en la Canal de Sta Barbara'), covered by ca14-d130.
The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
