Murder-conspiracy / mutiny plot at San Diego: on 30 Nov ~9 PM the guard sentinel José Varelas overheard soldiers Ignacio Lugo[?] (artillero), Ramón Rubio, [Mariano?] López and 2 *presidiarios* — the first inciting the others to kill the sentinel, then go house to house murdering the married men, offering to make Ramón Rubio captain. Varelas reported to Sgt. José Mª Pico; the plotters were seized & ordered prosecuted. Orig. pp.495–6
