Encloses the original oficio and two copies sent the previous day to the Acapulco commissary 'insistiendo en el préstamo que pretende de la cantidad que conduce á Califa para la pronta salida del Bergn Morelos, sobre cuyo negocio espera le diga lo que le paresca' [= insisting on the loan he seeks out of the sum being conveyed to California for the Morelos's prompt departure, on which business he awaits his opinion]. An appended note ('A continuacion', same date) reports the commissary's refusal, continuing onto n116: 'insiste en que no está en sus facultades de prestar legalmte sin traspasar los límites que le prescribe su empleo, á pesar de que conoce la urgencia de la salida del Morelos' [= he insists it is not within his powers to lend lawfully without exceeding the limits his office prescribes, although he knows the urgency of the Morelos's departure]; he would assent only 'cuando diera una órden superior, aplicable á las circunstancias en que se halla, ú otro arbitrio equivalente, capaz de cubrir su responsabilidad' [= given a superior order applicable to the circumstances, or an equivalent expedient capable of covering his responsibility].
