'Tercer documento.' Heading written out in full: '1825 Marzo = 12 = Acapulco / José Mª Echeandía á José Mª Herrera'. Savage's entire abstract is the single line 'Este documento es la repeticion del primero' [= this document is a repetition of the first]; he copies no text. This heading is the key that identifies the 'J. M. E (sic)' of the whole bundle as Echeandía.

How to cite this document
José María Echeandía to José María Herrera, Acapulco, 1825 Marzo 12 [1825-03-12], Departmental State Papers, I, pp 440 = 5 [bundle cite, written only at the end of the four documents on n116], Archives of California, C-A 27, Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley.Cite the document by series, tomo and original tomo page, as the literature does; the C-A number locates it in the repository. To cite this catalogue entry itself, use https://archivesofcalifornia.com/record/ca27/ca27-d122.htmlThe originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
