'Segundo documento.' Heading: '1825 = Mzo 12 = Acapulco / J. M. E (sic) al Comisaro del Puerto / Sobre que de los 20000 pesos que conduce á Califa se faciliten 6000 para el apresto del Bergantin Morelos' [= that out of the 20,000 pesos he is conveying to California, 6,000 be provided to fit out the brig Morelos]. Refusal: 'Dice que en lo absoluto [no] puede disponer el hacer el préstamo insinuado, ni cantidad algª sean las que fueren las circunstancias que se presenten, porqe la mente del Gobierno, es que los referidos veinte mil pesos lleguen íntegros á su destino, para allí darles la inversión que se propuso' [= he cannot on any account authorize the suggested loan, nor any sum whatever the circumstances, because the Government's intent is that the said twenty thousand pesos arrive intact at their destination, to be applied there as proposed]; even with repayment at San Blas 'no vé ningua garantía para su seguridad' [= he sees no guarantee for its security]. Continues on n115: a loan whose repayment failed in time 'entorpecerá mucho mas la espedición, desagradaría al gobierno, que [le] acarearía severos cargos por haberse estendido á cosas á que no estaba facultado' [= would greatly hinder the expedition and displease the government, bringing severe charges for extending himself to matters he was not empowered in]. Closes 'Mzo 12 Acapulco 1825. J. M. E = Al Comisario de este Puerto = José Bracho.' Spans n114-n115.
