- Previously read "Requests confirmation of his new post on the pueblo's behalf, pledging obedience.". The leaf reads "Lo felicita á nombre del pueblo por su nuevo empleo protestándole obediencia" — the alcalde CONGRATULATES the (new) Governor on the GOVERNOR'S post, pledging obedience; nothing is requested.
The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
