VERBATIM traslado of the CUEVAS despatch (Méx. 29 May 1845; arrived S. Pedro 9 Jul, bergantín nal. *Soledad*): Presidᵉ Intº acknowledges Pico's 28-Mar letter on «las desagradables ocurrencias»; the nation framed via «el movimᵗᵒ. Nal. del 6 de Dicᵉ. de 1844»; the Asamblea to vote for President of the Republic («flete V.S. uno» if no ship sails); Micheltorena's exit requires a division «de moralidad» — object: «no oprimir… sino protejer… y defender el país de cualquiera agresión estranjera, pᵃ qᵉ no sea otra vez invadido impunemᵗᵉ.»; avoid «el más ligero pretesto á todo movimᵗᵒ. popular… de qᵉ saben aprovecharse los enemigos de ella» = Cuevas
