'Sobre nombramiento de gefe militar' — transcribes the Comandante genl's 6 Oct. communication naming Vallejo gefe de la línea militar desde Sonoma hasta San José, to preserve order & prevent any foreign aggression, in accord with E.S. Gob. interino Juan B. Alvarado; Vallejo asks the auxilios (armament, munitions, armed men) he may need, marching soon to Monterey before the rains, to arrange all relating to the national service & remedy the troops' ills
