Spans n76-n79; the longest item in this run (13 pp)

Departmental State Papers, Benicia (Commissary & Treasury), tomo I–V · BANC MSS C-A 40, document 88

Spans n76-n79; the longest item in this run (13 pp). 'Sobre cobro de derechos de toneladas en San Fco.' Complains that Tente Ign. Martinez last year, and the cadete Raymundo Estrada this year, 'han contravenido a las ordenes terminantes de la Comisa cobrando en San Fco los derechos de toneladas a los buques estrangeros que han visitado aquel puerto' [have contravened the Comisaria's express orders by collecting tonnage duties at San Francisco from foreign vessels]; that Estrada's misconduct followed 'instigaciones del Capn Luis Anto Arguello y del Tente Martinez'. Asks the Comandante General to uphold the Comisaria's determination and use his authority to make Arguello and Martinez themselves compel the Comisario of that port (Estrada) to obey the order given him. In proof he encloses the correspondence that passed between Arguello, Martinez and Estrada (transcribed verbatim on n77-n79; see the two following rows). Closes at n79 with p cite 592-604.
