Spans n77-n78. Enclosure inside the 10 July Herrera abstract

Departmental State Papers, Benicia (Commissary & Treasury), tomo I–V · BANC MSS C-A 40, document 89

Spans n77-n78. Enclosure inside the 10 July Herrera abstract; Savage transcribes it in full and in quotation marks. Arguello tells Estrada that the Comisario Provisional's authority extends only to the fiscal branches he manages, 'que en cuanto a lo demas, no hay mas autoridad que la mia en este puerto, a quien se halla V. de inmediato responsable' [as to all else there is no authority but mine in this port, to which you are immediately answerable].

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
