Heading '1833 Dic. 19 Monterey / Figueroa — Prevenciones contra el Cólera.' Spans n79-n80. Publishes an order from Mexico 'manifestando que ha aparecido en Chiapas el Cholera morbus', and that German physicians (per Andrés del Río) have observed that 'el uso de una plancha pequeña ó medalla de cobre que toque inmediatamente á la cutis preserva del contagio', to be made known publicly and put in practice. Figueroa's own prevenciones follow: the preservative and curative method drawn up by the second aide of the military health corps, Man.l de Alva, circulated in a separate pamphlet, is to be exactly observed; at Monterey those without means of being treated at home are to be moved to the established hospital; at Los Angeles the ayuntamiento is to relieve the sick at home or by setting up a lazareto and hiring a physician paid from municipal funds; the same measures to be taken by comandantes militares where there is no ayuntamiento and by the padres misioneros for their missions.
