Departmental State Papers, Monterey, tomo I–VIII · BANC MSS C-A 43, document 831

Marked. Heading: 'Importac.n de armas y polvora.' Spans n448-n449. 'la importacion de polvora en todo tiempo ha sido prohibida, por estar estancada en la Rep.a y por ser municion de guerra - por tanto toda la polvora que se importare, caera en pena de comiso.' Ordinary firearms likewise barred 'sin previa licencia del Sup.mo Gob.o', except fine or luxury arms (interlined 'de fuego o blancas') which may enter paying duties; ordinary armas blancas may be landed but held in the aduana until the Supreme Government rules, and re-embarked at the same port if refused.
