MAJOR. Savage marks it 'O', his sign for a full transcription. Heading verbatim: '1822. Julio 29. Mont. / Sola al Alcalde del Pueblo de S. José D. Fran.co de Castro. / Sobre el delito de Benancio Mogica y otras or.ns'. Sola answers Castro's letter of the 24th and its enclosed list, and lays down how the Alcalde and Regidores are to deal with disrespect to religion and to the territory's judges, 'como acaba de suceder con Benancio Moxica' who gravely wounded the first Regidor Juan Hernandez because the Regidor obliged him to go and hear Mass when his turn came, and who, disobeying, took up the knife with which he wounded him. Sola grounds the whole ordinance on the frontier situation, that they live 'en un pais en q.e vivimos entre muchos Gentiles y nuevos Cristianos'. The text runs on through n103, n104 and ends on n105.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
