How to cite this document
Antonio Romero (Alcalde, San José) to Gov. Fages, s.f., State Papers, Missions and Colonization, I, p.56, Archives of California, C-A 52, Bancroft Library, University of California, Berkeley.Cite the document by series, tomo and original tomo page, as the literature does; the C-A number locates it in the repository. To cite this catalogue entry itself, use https://archivesofcalifornia.com/record/ca52/ca52-d18.htmlCorrection to this entry.
- Previously read orig_page: 'p.56'. Leaf n55 (stamp 56, ink 55) of bancarchca_81_14. The Romero petition foots its tomo citation as 'pp. 373-4' (which the record itself preserves inside the summary). The recorded orig_page 56 is the leaf stamp, not the tomo page; the citable pages are 373-374.
The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
