'Sobre establecimiento de la Bodega' — forwards Tte. de Fragata Juan Matute (Comte. del Pto

State Papers, Sacramento, tomo VI–IX · BANC MSS C-A 55, document 345

'Sobre establecimiento de la Bodega' — forwards Tte. de Fragata Juan Matute (Comte. del Pto. de la Bodega)'s original oficio reporting that it has NOT been possible to make the establishment at that port («no le ha sido posible hacer establecimiento en aquel Pto.»); Matute asks Sal to receive with account all the goods & war-supplies (pertrechos de guerra), plus 10 military men («diez individuos militares») & 5 artisans brought on the frigate *Aránzazu*. Sal awaits Arrillaga's orders; a house stands ready for the artisans (Salvador Méndez to spare them shipboard rations), the presidio cuartel suffices for the soldiers, and if both arrive early he will employ the troops in the guardia de prevención and the mason, carpenter & smiths at their trades. Correction to this entry.
The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
