Superior Government State Papers, Benicia, tomo XIX–XXI · BANC MSS C-A 58, document 164

Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: the document lay inside the declared span of a grouped entry covering n117-n131, which had passed every completeness check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: '+ 1838. Marzo 23. p.p. 303-4 / Pide noticia nominal de sueldos, pensiones, y demas cantidades que satisface la aduana de Mont.' [= Nominal return of salaries, pensions and other sums paid by the Monterey customhouse] Calls for a nominal return of salaries, pensions and other sums the Monterey customhouse pays. A named-payee return of this kind is a strong person-layer source. Note the year on this sub-heading is written 1838 while the block above it is headed 1839; I transcribe what is on the leaf.
