debate on the aguardiente-from-Spain duty (prohibited by the 8-Jan Plan de Gobierno); a fine mooted; resolve to 'exponerlo todo al soberano Congreso' ⭐ CORRECTED 2026-08-27 from the leaves: the acta OPENS at the foot of n33 with its own heading '1824- Set.e 19- Mont. / Diputacion Provincial. Multas al Presidente pr. introduccion de aguardiente español.' and closes on n34, so its anchor leaf was missing from the record and its date was stored as the bare year. The month and day are unambiguous at magnification. Substance: Carrillo and Palomares raised the introduction of brandy from Spain, prohibited by the plan de gobierno of 8 January 1824 'como consta del título 3.º, art.º 2.º'; Palomares, Carrillo and Carlos Castro opined the Sr. Presidente should pay '$10 de multa pr. cada baril de Aguard.te de España' introduced, for having permitted its sale. Franco Castro and Franco Ortega said they were unaware such a fine could be imposed on the Gobernador. José Aruz would lay it before the Soberano Congreso. Savage's cite: pp. 45-6.
