Legislative Records, tomo I · BANC MSS C-A 59, document 54

Previously uncatalogued — recovered by the 2026-08-27 coverage audit: the document lay inside the declared span of a grouped entry covering n219-n230, which had passed every completeness check while concealing it. Heading verbatim: 'o 1832 - Mzo. 25 - Sn Luis Rey - / Diputacion Provincial. [= 25 March 1832, Mission San Luis Rey: on what the Diputación does to prevent a clash between Echeandía's forces and Zamorano's] Opening verbatim: 'En la Mision de Sn. The body debates and resolves that, notwithstanding that one of the aims of Zamorano's party, as shown in the acta drawn up by the Junta de Monterey, is to attack the Diputación itself, the President shall write in its name to Teniente Ybarra 'haciendolo responsable ante la Soberania Nal. de las desgracias qe. sucedan, pr. las hostiles operaciones con qe. se prepara pª el rompimtº., invitandolo á qe. pr. medio de contestaciones haya un convenimtº. qe. evite los arroyos de sangre qe. sentirá la Alta Cal.', and further that a like exhortation be made to Echeandía and to Zamorano. It also refers to 'la alteracion qe. se advierte en los habitantes de estas y otras Misiones, de cuyos desordenes se preparan resultados de mucha pérdida pª la Alta Cal.' Signed Pío Pico, M. G. Vallejo, Antº Mª Osio, Juan B. Alvarado, Srio. This is the Diputación acting as mediator in the 1832 north-south civil war, from the mission where the southern party had gathered. I describe only what the acta says it resolved; the leaf does not state what came of the approach to Ybarra.
