Oficios: Gefatura Política of 9 del corriente with a Monterey ayuntamiento dictamen fixing the portero's duties; an oficio of the Alcalde de la Villa de Branciforte reporting arbitrios agreed there to pay the preceptor de primeras letras and the Srio, namely 'por un palo tumbado para el comercio pagará el tumbador un peso por vara de grueso' and 'por cada piel de nutria un peso'; a solicitud of the Ministro de la Misión de Sn Franco for the arreglo de linderos of that community's lands, to terrenos baldíos. Obras públicas reported AGAINST the Calzada: the work would give the town lustre and commerce a boost but total want of funds makes its paralización indispensable; the presupuesto is out of proportion to municipal income, the ayuntamiento having itself confessed in its acta of 11 March that Monterey's funds do not cover even the Secretaría and the escuela; and the 'fábrica de Casas Consistoriales y Cárceles públicas' for the security of delinquents should be preferred. Gobierno y policía on the Secretary's resignation: grant it; his claims of $1179-5 rs are legal and should be paid promptly; he ceases as Contador de propios, a commission given him 16 July 1830.
