SESSION ACTA Heading verbatim: 'o 1834. = Mayo 13. = Mont. / Diputacion - Sesion del dia de la ftha' [= 1834, May 13, Monterey. Diputación. Session of this day's date.] Gefatura Política oficio of 9 May transmits one from the Comandante Militar del Ptº de Sn Francisco reporting that within that jurisdiction FOREIGNERS are sawing timber, destroying the forests, without subjection and without their persons being known; it asks measures of policía on the conservación de los montes and asks the corporation reform the reglamento agreed 17 August 183[?] which imposed a pension on the extraction of timber; to propios united with industria. Oficio of 10 del corriente transmits Superior orders on forming the MILICIA ACTIVA DE ARTILLERÍA in this Territory, recommended preferentially; to gobierno y policía. Second readings taken. ⭐ The decisive item: Haro's motion to fix the linderos of the mission lands came to its third reading. José Antonio Carrillo spoke; Haro answered that the general good had moved him; CARLOS CARRILLO said the providencia should not be taken 'porque la ley de secularización de las misiones estaba para tener efecto', which would settle everything. Figueroa agreed, saying the measure could not be taken now, being useless when it is already a question of putting that law into practice, 'á cuyo fin ha pedido las luces de esta Corporacion', and that Haro's motion should be rejected. Put to the vote, the proposition was REJECTED UNANIMOUSLY.
