SESSION ACTA Heading verbatim: '+ 1834. = Julio 3. = Mont. / á Gefe Politico. Sobre corrida de ganado' [= 1834, July 3, Monterey. To the Gefe Politico. On the round-up of cattle. Savage leaves the author blank in the heading; the signers appear at the close.] VERBATIM TRANSCRIPTION, over four and a half leaves, and the substantive heart of the band: the petition of the San José vecindario against the decree of 5 May prohibiting mostrenco round-ups. They argue the wild stock descends from their founding fathers' herds; complain of being despoiled by the authorities; invoke sons taken by force into royal service; and raise Indian horse-raiding ('los ladrones indios'), the risk from the gentilidad, hunting deer and bear, and the threshing of wheat. Signed: 'José Romero = Tomas Pacheco = Lorenzo Pacheco = Leandro Rochin = Dolores Pacheco = José Pinto.'
