On the timber duty remaining in force.] Prior acta approved. First reading given to two dictamenes of the Comision de Propios y Arbitrios: (1) on the Ayuntamiento de la Capital's communication to the Gefe Politico asking that collection of the derecho de maderas (timber duty) remain in force; (2) on the same body's consulta whether a salary may be assigned to the member of the corporation who serves as its Secretary. Two propositions were then put to discussion, of which the first was approved: 'Que las reducciones y pueblos de indigenas estan sugetos a autoridad politica de los pueblos cabeceras de partido que hasta la fecha se han reconocido con este caracter.' That is a substantive ruling subordinating indigenous reducciones and pueblos to the political authority of the recognised cabecera pueblos of each partido.
