SESSION ACTA Heading verbatim: 'O 1835. = Octubre 15 = Mont. / Diput.n Territorial Sobre q.e mando Politico debe recaer en 3.er vocal Jose Antº Estudillo &.a' [= 1835, October 15, Monterey. Territorial Deputation. On the political command devolving upon the third vocal, José Antonio Estudillo, etc.] THE PRINCIPAL RECOVERY OF THIS BAND, and copied out in full over four leaves rather than abstracted. The succession crisis after Figueroa's death, in the Diputación's own minutes. (1) An oficio from Diputado Dn José Antº Estudillo 'manifestando el derecho q.e tiene p.a q.e el mando Político recaiga en Su persona'; referred to the Committee on Gobernación united with that of Misiones. (2) An acta of the Ayuntamiento de Sn Diego, forwarded under an oficio de remisión, holding 'q.e la Sucesion del mando Político debe recaer en el Sr Dn José Antº Estudillo'; referred to the same joint committee 'p.a q.e dictaminen ejecutivamente por pedirlo así el asunto'. (3) Other committees having business, 'Se declaró permanente la Sesion á propuesta del Sr Presidente' (the sitting declared permanent). (4) The joint Gobernación/Misiones dictamen on Estudillo's claim to the Gefatura Política and on the San Diego acta was given a FIRST READING only, i.e. left undecided. (5) A separate Gobernación dictamen on the expediente promoted by the Gefe Político for the salary of the office: second reading dispensed with, approved in general and in particular, its two propositions being '1.ª Que el Gefe Político interino el Sr Dn José Castro remitirá su órden al Sub-comisario pidiendo el abono de 3000 pesos anuales bajo la responsabilidad de esta Corporacion mientras dicho Sr Castro desempeñe la Gefetura Político como 3.er vocal de ella' and '2.ª Que igualmente se saque testimonio de todo este expediente y se dirija al Sup.mo Gob.no p.a q.e se sirva aprovar esta determinacion'. So the SAME 'third vocal' argument is used both for Estudillo (by San Diego) and for José Castro (who is actually holding the office and drawing the 3,000 pesos). (6) A further dictamen on the expediente of the Ilustre Ayuntamiento of the Capital asking the designation of its fondo legal: 'Se aprueva el terreno pedido por el Y. Ayuntamiento de esta Capital p.a su fondo legal, comprendiendo en él, el terreno conocido con el nombre de Toro', with a second article that the Supremo Gobierno be given account of the expediente to obtain its approval. That is the legal foundation of Monterey's municipal land, the Toro tract named on the leaf. (7) Finally a dictamen of the Comisión de terrenos valdíos on the expediente promoted by 'el C. Angel Ramires solicitando la Cañada Onda', approved in general and in particular. Ángel Ramírez is the Monterey customs administrator who appears as a denouncer in the 1834 conspiracy record at n1.
