Legislative Records, tomo III–IV · BANC MSS C-A 61, document 26

'Jun. 26' (under the same heading '1836 Monterey / Man.l Crespo á la Dip.n'). It had been believed the proprietary Jefe Politico is not absent by the mere fact of not being out of the Territory, but in reality he is not in Monterey, and the President of the Diputacion is to take that oath in his place 'seg.n dec.to 6 Mayo 1822' [per the decree of 6 May 1822].
