Ten.te de la Armada Nacional D.n Ant.o Míjares, abandonaron el Campo y Contramarcharon' [= in the disastrous action of 19-21 Nov. 1847 at San José the much superior Mexican force quit the field and countermarched once Lt. Mijares fell]. Mejía's order to countermarch reached him only after he had attacked; the failure is blamed on those commanding. Míjares adds he attacked at La Paz with far inferior numbers until forced to retire.
