Spans n204-n205. When Vicente Mejía left the pueblo pleading illness he received his passport 'mas bien por las circunstancias y su inutilidad que por consideraciones que de ningn modo merece'; the Comandancia 'no desconoce su natural cobardia, y principal autor de la actual guerra de la Baja Califª', and knew of his 'secretas intrigas, para la desercion de la tropa'. Military law in campaign has not been applied in full rigour. Denunciations of the 29th ult. and the 4th inst. charge the treason of Vicente Mejía, Padre Sotomayor and José Serrano Teniente de Artillería, against whom summary proceedings are running.

The originals of these records burned in the 1906 San Francisco fire. What survives is Thomas Savage’s 1870s copy, and this page describes that copy.
