Archives of California, Miscellaneous, tomo — · BANC MSS C-A 62, document 216

“mientras mas permanesca en ese Mineral de S. Antonio mas pronto acabará Con los recursos, y la tropa será desbandada, sin provabilidad ning.a de poderlo remediar” — urges abandoning the San Antonio mining camp; “que en San José hay bastante ganado de los enemigos”, and the people must be drawn out of their ignorance, which needs armed force; asks that the Comandancia Principal be established at Todos Santos with its cuartel general, keeping the troop in sight of the enemy with nothing else to distract it.
