Rewritten 2026-09-22 from a direct reading of the leaf. This row previously carried an unfounded summary describing a document the leaf does not hold; its erratum of 2026-09-22 records what it used to say. The heading below is what the manuscript leaf actually carries. ⭐⭐⭐ VERBATIM HEADING: «Arguello al gob.r Borica. Sobre la espedicion de la mision contra los Indios. Relacion.» (the heading gives the year 1797; no month or day was carried in it, and the following entry on n211 is dated 30 June). SUBSTANCE: forwards the San José fathers' reply and reports that Raymundo el Californio's party returned dispersed, the winds and heavy seas having broken up their balsas; pursuers forced two men into the water and one took «un jarrazo en la cabeza»; they had found christians in «tres rancherías de los cuchillones», and opposite San Francisco met a gentile ranchería called Santa Anna, who received them well and gave them tules from their own houses to build fresh balsas to cross back. Argüello «reprendido agriamente a Raymundo», warned him never again to leave the mission seeking Indians nor permit anyone to, even if the padres ordered it, and that on contravention he would send him in irons to Monterey.

This is an expedition report, not an extracto de revista.
