Savage abstract, verbatim: 'Que conforme a informe del R.l Tral. de Cuentas y dictamen del Fiscal, con parecer de Asesor Gral, ha dispuesto q.e en atencion a lo q.e propuso (el Gob.) en 11 de Dic.e se construyan p.r el pintor del Arsenal (de Loreto?) cuatro o seis escudos pequenos p.a banderas de buques del P.to de Loreto, y uno p.a el Presidio, y los envie a S.n Blas p.a q.e se arreglen -' The parenthetical query '(de Loreto?)' is Savage own. A viceregal order, cleared through the Tribunal de Cuentas, the Fiscal and the Asesor General, for the painting of four to six small armorial escudos for the flags of the vessels of the port of Loreto and one for the presidio, to be forwarded to San Blas to be mounted. A rare explicit reference to the manufacture of armorial flag devices in the Californias.
